Greening Great Britain week

A series of events will take place this week to highlight Britain's work on building a greener future including the launch of a new network for the UK Climate services community

NCEO’s partner, Space4Climate, and the London Climate Change Partnership, will hold an event on 16 October on using Earth Observation data for mapping and monitoring green infrastructure in London details here and on 18 October will launch a new network for the UK Climate Services Community details here.

These are two of many events taking place in the UK to highlight Green Great Britain Week.

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will be running a number of events throughout the week and there is a theme to each day:
Monday: UK leadership on climate science.
Tuesday: Clean growth and innovation.
Wednesday: Clean investment and the low carbon economy.
Thursday: Clean growth as a business opportunity, new business and job opportunities.
Friday: Climate action in communities.

Finally, here’s a science image of Green Great Britain….. NCEO Scientists use data from satellites to monitor urban and rural areas, and change in uses of land. The image below shows The Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission which reveals how the colour of UK vegetation changed in just one month during the Summer 2018 drought:
