NCEO links scientific expertise in environmental science with progress in the satellite technology sector, and supports the exploitation of satellite data for societal and economic benefit.

Satellite data are increasingly important to support economic development and inform decision-making. With its first-class scientific expertise, NCEO works with stakeholders nationally and internationally to meet the environmental challenges that face society.

Business Collaborations

NCEO supports the exploitation of NERC Earth Observation research by industry, often through collaborative projects initiated by space agencies, EC and government departments.

Space Agencies

UK science is best served by expert co-operation with the world’s leading space agencies, scientists and missions.

Government

NCEO works with public sector agencies and government to fast-track progress in the use of environmental data alongside Earth Observation satellite technology to assist policymakers. NCEO is working most closely with Defra through support of its EO Centre of Excellence, DECC on climate data for EO, and the UK Space Agency/BIS in respect of the space sector and metrology programmes.

UK Joint GEO/CEOS office

NCEO is working on behalf of the UK EO community to interface with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS).
