About EOCIS

The UK Earth Observation Climate Information Service (EOCIS) will make a positive difference to responses to climate change, in the worlds of science, decision-making and business. EOCIS brings together UK experts from over a dozen research centres and universities who create high quality, trustworthy climate information leading to insight.

EOCIS is a collaboration led by the National Centre for Earth Observation, and involving over a dozen research organisations.

EOCIS addresses 12 categories of global and regional essential climate variables.

Global Climate Data

EOCIS is also creating new climate data at high resolution for the UK specifically. This includes both rapid-response information for climate-linked events (fire early warning and urban flood mapping) and longer term climate data linked to human and ecosystem health and landscape greenhouse gas emissions.

EOCIS has been funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), part of UKRI, through the Copernicus transition, national project funding provided by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
