UK Space Agency Announces Next Steps for Earth Observation Data Hub Procurement

NCEO welcome news today that the route to delivery of the EODH to end March 2030 has been confirmed. The UK Space Agency (UKSA) has announced the next steps for the future delivery of the UK’s Earth Observation Data Hub (EODH), following market engagement activities and feedback from industry stakeholders.

A competitive procurement for the next phase of EODH will be delivered through UKRI-STFC Procurement and run by the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA), part of the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) at RAL Space, working closely with UKSA.

While some elements of EODH have been identified as suitable for an insourced approach within government, the majority of activities are expected to be delivered through competitively procured suppliers. This approach aims to provide continuity for users, build on the expertise developed through the current service, and support a sustainable operating model while maintaining a significant role for industry.

EODH plays a vital role in providing access to Earth observation data, tools and services that support research, innovation and operational applications across the UK. The Hub helps users discover, access and analyse satellite-derived data, enabling organisations to address challenges ranging from environmental monitoring and climate change to infrastructure management and natural hazards.

UKSA and CEDA (NCEO) will provide further details on the procurement process, timetable and participation opportunities in the coming months. For planning purposes, an Invitation to Tender (ITT) is expected to be issued in autumn 2026.
