Today an ESA Ariane 6 rocket will launch MetOp-SG-A1 the first of a new generation of EUMETSAT satellites into a polar orbit around 820 km above the Earth’s surface. The satellite will circle the globe each day, gathering detailed information to support climate science, environmental monitoring and weather forecasting.

NCEO PhD students awarded prestigious EUMETSAT fellowships
At NCEO we pride ourselves on helping our students not only excel in their studies but prepare them for their future careers. We are very happy to be able to share that two of our PhD students, Sanjeevani Panditharatne (Imperial College London) and Laura Risley (University of Reading), moving on and pursuing to research fellowships with the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
