NCEO and King’s College Prof Martin Wooster receives RSPSoc prestigious award

Professor Martin Wooster has received the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) Award for his long standing and highly acclaimed services to Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Science.

Professor Martin Wooster is an expert on satellite Earth observation and the quantification of landscape fire. He is based at King’s College London and NERC NCEO. His research is primarily to do with thermal remote sensing and the remote sensing of biomass burning and its effect on the land and atmosphere.

The award which consisted of an inscribed RSPSoc Medal and Honorary Membership of the Society for life, was presented to Martin by Dr Richard Armitage during the Society’s Annual Conference (Accelerating Geospatial Intelligence through Earth Observation).

The award Ceremony took place at the Satellite Applications Catapult in Harwell, Oxfordshire, OX11 0QR on Friday 13th September 2019.

Martin Comments:” I am  honoured to have received the societies most prestigious award, which is awarded at most annually. I would like to particularly thank all the people I’ve worked with, most especially my research group and Kings Geography and NCEO, as this award is as much about them as me”.
