NCEO and the Data Assimilation Research Centre at the University of Reading will be running an intensive data assimilation training course 18-21 February 2020, in collaboration with ECMWF. The course is aimed at PhD students and early career researchers. It will provide a theoretical introduction to data assimilation methods as well as the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience applying data assimilation methods to numerical models. Topics covered will include variational methods, the ensemble Kalman filter and particle filters.
Participation in the course is free. To apply for a place, please send an email to Amos Lawless (a.s.lawless@reading.ac.uk), with a short description of your current research interests (around 50-100 words) by 4pm on 31st January 2020. Applications will be looked at as they arrive, until all the places have been allocated.
