Description of this video object

Simple models

One of the best ways to gain an understanding of complex systems is by running simple models that represent the essential features of these systems, and that allow the user to vary the running conditions by means of easy-to-change parameters.

Several such models are shown here - they may be used to illustrate facets of data assimilation and Earth observation.

All the models shown can be downloaded and installed, and they should run without any problems provided that the appropriate software (e.g. Fortran, Matlab, IDL) is already installed.

Presentations

Also available are presentations made by scientists in NCEO that illustrate different aspects of Earth observation and of their work in the field.

Conditions of use

The presentations, software and documentation on this site are made available for educational purposes and personal study only. They may be freely distributed as long as the original source (www.nceo.ac.uk - The National Centre for Earth Observation) is acknowledged. Copyright remains with the original authors.

If you download or use any of these models then we'd love to know that you are finding them useful - so that we can put effort into building up the resources. Please email mailto:r.brugge@rdg.ac.uk to let us know. Thanks you.
